Camping! 6-20 and 6-21, 2017

On our way to Idaho, Rebekah and Annabelle and I and our dog Duchess, went camping! We stayed at a wonderful KOA in a Kamping Cabin that was air conditioned in Grand Junction, Colorado in a cabin and at a tent site in Brigham City, Utah. Sadly, the Brigham City KOA was "not that nice," but we still had a nice time together. At the bottom of this blog post, under the photos, I've pasted a letter of complaint to the KOA headquarters.

To Whom It May Concern:

My daughters and I recently stayed at a tent site at the KOA in Brigham City on our way from Colorado to Idaho on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

The night before, we were delighted with our stay in a Camping Cabin in Grand Junction (which was wonderful!), and we looked forward to our next KOA visit, but the Brigham City KOA, was not anything in comparison.  The grounds at the Brigham City KOA were very dirty.  Trash was everywhere and a lot junk was near the office.  The store in the front office had very little in stock and although coffee was supposed to be available the pot was completely dry and during our entire stay and it seemed as if no one in the front office had the intention of making a fresh pot for guests.

The women's restroom was filthy. When we arrived, around 4:30 pm, the trash in the women's restroom was full to the top and smelled like spoiled diapers or bad food and that made the restroom stink.  I informed the office about that about 30 minutes later, but that trash was never removed.  The next morning, that trash was overflowing and continued to smell.  I was very disturbed that my mention that the trash was overflowing was ignored completely.  The sanitary napkin dispensors were also full and smelled and flies flew around them.  

The next morning, on Thursday, 6-22-17, I began to take a shower, but had to move to another stall.  There were only three shower stalls, and the center shower was not functional.  There was no sign on that shower door stating it was broken, but no water came out from the shower head.  I did inform the office just before we left about the broken shower head.  There was no apology or inclination that anyone would repair it.

In addition, when we arrived, I asked about renting a camping cabin in addition to a tent site, but was told they all were taken.  But...no one at that KOA used any of the cabins during our stay.  Were none of the cabins clean or did the front office just not want to rent out the cabins?  That was puzzling.

The tent site was nice, but it was very, very hot when we arrived and it would have been nice to have been assigned a site that had shade since the area we were assigned had plenty available sites with shade.

We were asked to move one of our cars once we were settled which was fine, but annoying since we had been told at first it was fine to park where we parked.

The people in the office, two teenage girls who looked under 16 years old, were not very friendly or helpful and every time I stepped in the office, I felt we were intruding on their private time.

I would not recommend staying at this KOA to anyone. 

I know KOA has high standards, and I do hope your main office can address these issues.  This KOA campground should not be part of the KOA system in my opinion.  If I go through the area again, we will try out the Salt Lake City KOA.
