Oh wow! What a fun and amazing and wonderful our class was on Monday, February 14, 2022! Maybe because it was Valentine’s Day, but I think our discussion was AWESOME! Jo Ann, Dan, Karen, David, Dave, Merrill, Odette, and Robin attended.
We completed James and read and discussed the last chapter in the book of James, Chapter 5.
The beginning of Chapter Five talked about the rich being bad guys, but we disagreed on that concept. Dan mentioned that if the rich didn’t exist we wouldn’t have people that give large donations to good causes and to people that depend on donations for their livelihood.
We discussed “Let your Yes be Yes and Your No Be No.”. Was it about telling the truth? We discussed that telling the truth all the time may not be the best idea. An example was Jews during the holocaust if a Jew told the truth about being Jewish, he or she would have been killed.
Relating to the paragraph about those who are sick calling for elders. We discussed people who don’t go to the doctor after reading that1 Merrill shared about his sister who attends an evangelical church where the pastor said to the congregation they would not get Covid and after his sister got Covid and told him that her pastor said she would not get sick, that he decided to check out Judaism!
Karen shared how at a gathering of a messianic group of people in South Carolina where she and her husband were the only ones vaccinated, that the entire rest of the group got sick with Covid and two people died!
The last paragraph was about leading those who have strayed away from the faith back. We discussed the Jewish concept of Teshuvah.

We all look forward to starting 1st Corinthians next week. We will start with the introduction to the chapter in the Jewish Annotated New Testament.
