This is the Schneider-Farris Family's Blog. Keep up with what we are doing by logging into this site regularly! (The reason this site is called "Tragedy and Triumph" is that when I first founded this site, my husband, Dan, had been in a horrible accident, and he recovered. His recovery was a miracle! Short Cross-Country Ski Hike Turned Into a Marathon Adventure - 2-26-2014

Annabelle, Joel, and I planned to go on a short cross country skiing hike today (Feb. 26, 2014) at Mueller State Park, but it ended up turning into a 5.5 hour marathon.  I can't tell you how many hills we climbed and how many times we fell in deep snow.

We were able to get a phone signal and were on the phone with the park ranger as we got closer to the trail head and then to our car.

My socks were soaking wet and I don't think I've ever been this tired, but it was still so fun!

Colorado is so beautiful!  Seeing all that beauty and being outdoors made it so worth it.  I bet I'll be feeling a bit achy in the morning.

Our trip was almost like Goofy's skiing adventure in the above video!

Winter Hike on Cheyenne Mountain 2-23-2014

On Sunday afternoons, we've always had a tradition of doing something athletic as a family. On Sunday, February 23, 2014, we took a hike through Cheyenne Mountain State Park. It was so fun to be outdoors! After the hike, I talked Annabelle and Dan into riding scooters down the mountain with me!

We had THE BEST time skiing in Ski Cooper on Presidents Day 2014! It was not crowded at all and it seemed like we had the place to ourselves!
