This is the Schneider-Farris Family's Blog. Keep up with what we are doing by logging into this site regularly! (The reason this site is called "Tragedy and Triumph" is that when I first founded this site, my husband, Dan, had been in a horrible accident, and he recovered. His recovery was a miracle! Day of Kayaking and Stand Up Paddle Boarding at Perkins Lake, Idaho 7/21/2022

The happiness my family and I feel on the water is tremendous!  We enjoyed Perkins Lake, Idaho near Alturas Lake on 7/21/2022. (This lake has no “facilities” but also no motorboats so kayaking and stand up paddle boarding was great fun!)

Encounter With Lexi Rohner and Her Family! July 17 and 18 and July 21, 2022

This is one of those amazing encounters posts.  Here’s what happened:

Lexi Rohner and I have known one another for about 20 years online, but never met in person until we ran into one another in an elevator in Elkhorn Village in Sun Valley this past Monday morning.  (I had noticed once of her sons in the elevator the day before since he was so polite and respectful.)

Three days later, I was in a Starbucks and a lady (who turned out to be Lexi’s mom) told me how cute she thought our dog was.  We began talking and as we dropped questions like “Where are you from?” etc, somehow skating came up and where Lexi and I both skated at as kids (Culver City Ice Rink) and when I asked her daughter’s name, it was Lexi!

So now I have photos of me and Lexi together but also a photo of me with her parents Vicki and George!  They came outside after the encounter to get a photo of me and my son Joel with our dog Duchess.

Fourth of July 2022 in Hailey, Idaho

I had a wonderful 4th of July celebrations in Hailey, Idaho.  My day began with a visit to my friend Janet’s home that was walking distance from all the activities.

Here I am smiling with my dog Duchess and my friend Janet’s cat on the 4th of July in Hailey, Idaho!

On July 3, 2022, the day before the 4th of July Parade in Hailey, I put my green camp chairs on Main Street.  They were ready for me on the morning of July 4 in time for the noon parade.  I had a front row seat!  This is an annual tradition:  people put their chairs on the street reserving their spot one or two days before and no one steals them!  Can you imagine?!!!

The parade was wonderful!  Below are photos from the parade and also photos of the festivities at Hop Porter Park.

Candy was thrown from most of the floats-cars and parade marchers, so the children present had great fun gathering up the candy!

After the parade I got to see my friend Janet again.

I watched the parade with our new friend Ashlee.

Janet’s garden!

Two ice dancers pose together!

I didn’t go to the rodeo.  Maybe I’ll buy a ticket next year.

Later that day I skated with my son Joel at the indoor rink in Sun Valley and went out to dinner with our friends Dale and Tim.  We made it to the fireworks just a bit before they began and watched the fireworks with our new friend Ashlee.  It was a wonderful and very busy July 4th!
