Goodbye to “Larkspur” - 3/20/2022

Dan and I smiling with my nephew Cody and his daughter Mia, my sister-in-law Amy and my brother Billy, and my nieces Phoebe and Cori and Cori’s dog Cooper just before we left “Larkspur” on 3/20/2022

Today, 3/20/2022, my husband Dan and I said good-bye to my dad’s beautiful Colorado home. We always called the home “Larkspur.”

My family had no idea when he died there while we were caring for him on 12/13/2021, three months ago, that the Schneider Family would not continue to share it. It’s like the house has died with my Daddy. I must have been in a dreamworld, but I really believed that my father wanted our family to continue to share it and enjoy it.

Anyway, the house has been sold and the new owner will take possession on 3/28/2022.

My family has so many wonderful memories from this place. My parents bought the land in April of 1996 right after my daughter Rebekah was born. A custom home was completed on the property in about 2001-02. We spent so much time there including social distancing there during the Covid lockdown. We had Thanksgivings and Passovers there. We spent Shabbat weekends there.  We celebrated other holidays there. We hiked, biked, scootered, went to the lake, and hosted friends there.

I cried so hard when we drove away today.

Dear  Lynnellen and Jo Ann.......

Today was a special day.  Cori, Cody, Mia and Cody were packing up to leave, Billy, Phoebe and I came to say goodbye, and Dan & Jo Ann also were able to stop by.  Someone got a photo - so I hope to see it soon, but I wanted to just say that it was a great moment in time.

Each family took some special pieces from the beautiful Larkspur home and will cherish them forever.  When we look at the things from the home I think we will all smile and remember fun times that we spent there or something special about your mom and dad.

The home was amazing, and we were lucky enough to spend some nice times there and give our kids some special memories of childhood.  Lynnellen, I know your kids were only here twice, but it was a unique full circle moment to have seen the beginning and end of the time the family owned the home.  Jo Ann, your family really was lucky to enjoy many years of time there and also had amazing life memories there with your Dad till his last day.

It is sad that we were all financially unable to hold on to this property that your parents loved, but I somehow think your Mom and Dad were there in spirit today, and gave their blessing as everyone smiled, hugged, and found joy in the simple moments.  It was a beautiful, emotional, and very meaningful day.
Thanks, and sending love
