We may have stayed at the Atherton House for more years, but Richard, the owner, got married and he wanted to move into his own house with his wife and not a bunch of other people. so we had to leave.
We found a cute apartment on top of a three car garage in Long Beach at Ximeno and 14th Street. After 3 years, we were excited to have our own place.
The rent was only $400 a month! Our landlords never raised our rent. We lived there until April of 1988 when we moved to San Francisco.
