My friend, Larisa Gendernalik, lost her daughter to tragedy in 2008. Valerie Gendernalik was killed in Fort Collins, after her boyfriend shot her. When US Figure Skating asked me to come up with ideas for articles about skaters and coaches who had done remarkable things, I thought of Larisa. Larisa turned to her artwork during her time of grief and has created and sold beautiful figure skating paintings.
Her story is below.

This is the Schneider-Farris Family's Blog. Keep up with what we are doing by logging into this site regularly! (The reason this site is called "Tragedy and Triumph" is that when I first founded this site, my husband, Dan, had been in a horrible accident, and he recovered. His recovery was a miracle! Go back to the 2005 archives to read our story.)
